It appears in base as siege_narshadaa_v1.4.zip. I went and extracted all. This is what appeared... siege_narshadaa_v1.4. Now inside that is, ext_data, levelshots, models, shaders, textures, gfx, maps, script, sound, and siege_narshadaa_v1.4.txt. I did that thing where you go under file folder, then view and unchecked that box. However it still doesnt read p3k nor can i play the map....

let me guess... you are using old version of Internet explorer? In that case switch browser / upgrade to newer IE.

Internet explorer: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/inte ... ts/ie/home
Opera: http://www.opera.com/
Firefox: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/

If you download it as zip, all you have to do is rename it to a .pk3 file. Make sure that it isn't a .pk3.zip though. If it is, go to folder options and check show file extensions. Then you should be able to rename properly. Although I'm pretty sure Duo put up a pk3 file on the siege website...and make sure you chuck it in base.

Wrong.

If you rename the zip to a pk3, it will contain extra directories which will make the game unable to read the pk3 file. This is because the pk3 is always contained in the zip, which creates that extra directory path. So instead of \base\(siege_cargobarge.pk3)\maps\cargobarge.bsp, you'd have base\(siege_cargobarge.zip)\siege_cargobarge.pk3\maps\cargobarge.bsp. And JKA will read those directories differently.

Hopefully you know what I mean now...

Complicating the problem is sometimes it's uploaded as the raw .pk3, and sometimes it's uploaded as a .pk3 in a .zip.

Not in this case.

Putting it in a zip just to include some readme file is silly anyway.

Agreed.
