ATTN: sport dudes
Re: ATTN: sport dudes
A helmet-to-ribs tackle will hurt a shit ton more than a human-head-to-ribs tackle, soz to say.

Re: ATTN: sport dudes
Unless you've actually played both, this argument is moot.
GUARD!AN
–noun
1. guarding; protecting: a guardian deity.
2. a violent, tropical, cyclonic storm of the western North Atlantic, having wind
speeds of or in excess of 72 mph (32 m/sec).
3. (in Gnosticism) one of a class of powers or beings conceived as emanating
from the Supreme Being and performing various functions in the operations of
the universe.
4. a terrifying dream in which the dreamer experiences feelings of helplessness,
extreme anxiety, sorrow, etc.
5. The sensation and muscular spasm caused by an electric current passing
through the body or a body part.

Are we talking Rugby vs. US Football?
I've never really played Rugby, but I have played full-contact USFB both with pads and without.
There's nothing like sending a dude a few yards down the field after a good pad to pad hit.
When dudes aren't wearing pads, I guarantee dudes hold back more.
When dudes are wearing gear, it's like a whole different mind set...
You feel kinda invincible in the gear....you can be confident that you can just SMASH the other guy and probably hardly feel anything.
Heh, this is gonna sound strange to most of you guys, but I used to train for body checks in hockey by skating full-speed into things like...I dunno...dumpsters...anything with mass that wasn't like a brick wall(it also helps that dumpsters don't dent like cars
)
I used to be able to move them several inches every time I hit them...lol.

Soccer is way more fun to play, and a lot easier to play with a group of friends. Saying "Hey, let's go play 2 on 2" with a soccer ball is a lot easier than getting 6v6 for flag football or something.
That said, I think Ame football is vastly more entertaining to watch on TV. I like watching soccer on TV, whenever it's on - but football is just translates better to television.
I've never been to a pro-game for either sport, so I can't offer much judgment there. I will say that while in high school (and when I've gone back home) I've found soccer games much more enjoyable live than football games. I'm probably biased as I still know most of the boys/girls soccer players much better than I do most of the football players though.
