You seem to be under the impression that I actually do the homework that has literally no impact on the overall grade...

Well... the administration seems to think that I HAVE to attend too... there's a policy where if you miss more than four days, you have to make them up on Saturdays or they withhold credit... but I missed a couple weeks on and off for a sprained knee (and a few mental health days

) and didn't make up any time

The policy at my HS was that if you missed 8 or more periods of any given class, the Principal had the right to not give you the credits. I've never actually heard of this happening, but I do know that's the rule. My senior year I missed like all of February+March after I broke my collarbone, but never lost any credits.

My school was the same, except it wasn't the principal that did it, it was some other person. I can't remember who, but basically if you could prove that you hadn't cut any classes, you'd be okay, but if they could prove that you had cut even once, you were given a 59%.

It's sad that attendance>knowledge in our adolescent detention centers... I mean schools... yeah... schools... they are definitely for learning... not corrupting the minds of the children and keeping them from meddling...

in college attendance =\= knowledge (or at least =/= grade), which is nice. At least most of the time, depending on professor.

We had truency charges, if you did not want to attend then you can sit in jail.
As far as my college, if you miss 2 weeks of classes you fail the class. Two weeks = 4 classes if they meet twice a week, 6 if 3 times, 2 if once a week. Then you go on academic probation and you lose your grants.

I've only ever had one professor (thus far) who had a "Don't miss more than 3 classes" rule, and they didn't really even follow it because I'm pretty sure I ended up missing 4-5 classes.
Most of my professors just say they won't keep attendance, but they'll have a "good idea" if you show up or not, and that might help them decide to move your grade up at the end of the year if you're on the bubble between a C and B or something.
