CTRL = yaw
z = sk
numbers = classbinds

The setting change that did the most for me was switching from 3rd person view to first person.

Ya, first is pretty win for aiming but third's nice for box-whoring.

If you are running onboard gfx, just yews lowest settings for everything.

My most important binds:

/kill -> H
Air Support Voice Chat -> B
and sk if needed..
really important

sk = selfkill

to bind, type in console /bind *key* kill *your name*

Whenever you press that key, it will kill you. It's really useful for getting more health/ammo without having the other team kill you, or jumping into a pit, or worrying if you time it right. Also, it's generally very frowned upon in impulse and banned in tempest to sk as a jan that gets shields (in other words, both desert jans, and hoth defense jan). It's also good to killsteal when someone pushes you into a pit, or the lava on korrispam.

Very interesting, thanks TurqoiseDragon. What's "CTRL=yaw," and "box-whoring"?

Ctrl = yaw means that yaw is bound to the ctrl button. I don't think MAC's have that key, so you'd yews something else. yaw is a combination of a bind and setting. The bind is either +left or +right, so the player model turns that way when the button is pressed/held down. /cl_yawspeed *number* is used to change the rate of turning (I think base is 180 or something like that). Yaw is using this combination with a saber. It's very difficult to black, and greatly increases the damage done by a saber. Some dues yews it coinstantly (usually with saber staff), others not so much, and others not at all.

Box-whoring, I'm not too sure about, but I think it means going into third person view while using a gun so as to see around a box the player is hiding behind, therefore not exposing themselves to see where their enemies are. Someone else correct me if I'm wrong.

Hmm, fascinating. So, it's essentially binding the CTRL key as the equivalent of the "Left" or "Right" arrow keys? Mac's have CTRL, ALT, FN, and CMD (Apple), similar to the newer "Windows" key.

So, essentially you swing your saber and simultaneously "turn" your character in that same direction, giving more "momentum" to the attack, and thus more damage? Absolutely fascinating. I need to find an online list of these types of key bindings, since you guys are all vets and know this crap, and I'm a n00b walkin' in with a handicap :D .

Thanks for the great tips!
