good
You obviously haven't played anyone good in basketball or aren't good yourself. Basketball takes a lot of skill to play.

Basketball is an amazing sport.

It requires keen hand/eye coordination, smarts, quickness/speed , and toughness.

I've played most of the major sports and nothing really taxes you like basketball does.

I've 'murdered' guys in football and hockey, but you have protective gear that shields you from most minor injuries. Playing 5 on 5, full-court basketball will really beat you up... particularly if you play in the paint.

Especially in the long run.....I have two bad knees to show for it.

One sport I might consider tougher would be rugby, but that's one I've never had the chance to play.

What's amusing about basketball games is how much can change after the short time it takes to go grab a beer.

anyway, I hardly watch or follow basketball at all, and I can already tell you that it requires a lot of endurance, sharp reflexes combined with keen eye-hand coordination (aforementioned), and spur-of-the-moment improvisation combined with teamwork.

Basketball is more about strength and athleticism than technical skill, just look at the genetic freakshow that is the NBA.

I prefer stuff that requires a bit more thinking: chess, checkers, pool, etc. Yes, pool. It's all physics and geometry - angles, momentum, spin, etc.
Pool doesn't require too much thinking beyond a certain point. It requires more of an ability to judge distance etc. than it does any excessive "planning."

About all the planning you need in pool is figuring out which order you're going to sink them and where you want to aim for the cue to stop rolling after each shot.

I've seen my old man straight run the table off of the break more than a few times. None of the shots were particularly impressive (people who try to do trick shots in a game are jokers, btw), and he didn't really need to sit down and think about each shot. You just get a feel for it after a long enough time.

If you want a game where you have to think then try snooker.

Well, nowadays with your Shaqs, Bols, and Mings....sure.

We're just gonna have to raise the goals and expand the courts eventually.
