The eternal error issues of launching JAMP...

Post by ishowernekked »

Just put JA on my new machine, through Steam, and I'm getting Open_GL error messages when trying to launch either JASP or JAMP.

Running 64-bit Windows 7 on AMD Athlon II, ATI Radeon 4850.

Calling anyone (or Bob/Maximus) for help. kthx.

Lol it's not Windows 7 related at all. More like "That's what you get for using ATI"

Yea, admittedly it's true. ATI released an update at around 10.3 or some shit, which upgraded OpenGL to 3.0 or whatever, but also made older openGL applications (like quake3 and therefore jka) not work. Losers.

I don't recall if they ever fixed that or not. Tensor and Bob would have more info with this, I've been using Nvidia for the past 5 years.

I quite like Windows 7. (I'll always have a spot in my heart for XP though.)

Oh, and Nvidia is the only way.

I had the same problem on Vista x64.

Fixed it by going to jamp.exe properties and switching the compatibility to WinXP and checking the "run program as administrator" box.

Not sure if its the same issue on Win7 though, don't have that OS.

I've been using Nvidia for a good number of years now, and it always seems to work great. Also Win XP doesn't give me hell with my stuff. I heard Vista/7 sometimes mess up shit.

Haven't had a problem with Vista/7, been running them (Vista from release to 7, 7 from release to present.)

Set compatibility options on jasp and jamp to Run as Administrator (needed since Vista) and possibly XP SP3 compatibility mode.
Hopefully you know where game files are
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\reborn boss academy\GameData

AMD drivers later than 10.3 broke OpenGL for some older games like JKA. This is a possible fix.

Still an AMD fan sry dudes.
