Alright first i want to say that i know 0 about computers. (arch can vouch for that) However last pug it was popular concensus to jump to narshadaa. Well i dint have this so the next day i went to download this. It finisjed downloading into base but it was a zip file not a pk3 file? Well jka uses pk3 and this is a zip so obviously it doesn't work. How do i get it to a pk3. I am sure i probably screwed somthing up but..... I just need a bit of o whats the word........ ahh jan support. Oh if you are going to say somthing make sure you say it in english as opposed to computer(s) language.

Open the .zip file? double click on it? (if you are using Win xp or above) The pk3 file is inside the zip :) ;)

I'm going to make a detailed post on how to put custom maps in, but for now...

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/865219

The link I gave was NOT a ZIP:

http://www.jkasiege.com/maps/pk3s/base/ ... a_v1.4.pk3

I think something like winzip or 7zip recognizes it as an archive and opens it for some reason 'cause he said he had the BSP and the TXT file from nar in his base folder.

He needs to just find his downloads folder and drag that file from the link I gave to BASE.

This link leads to a .pk3 file, I can't see how that is a zip file...

A pk3 in reality is just a zip file so some archive utilities will show the same icon as an actual .zip file. Turn on file extensions so you can see what the file actually is instead of guessing based on the icon.
http://www.granneman.com/techinfo/windo ... xtensions/

Built into every version of Windows since XP, if you right click on a zip archive, one of the first options will be Extract All. This will probably not appear for a pk3.
Unless you have an actual reason to yews anything else (I've heard winrar has some specific uses), you should be using this for archive purposes.
http://www.7-zip.org/
Once that's installed, you can right click archives (.zip etc), go to 7-Zip, and choose Extract Here.

Once you have a .pk3 and not a .zip, the pk3 goes in base. Do not put a .zip in base, and do not put the *contents* of a .pk3 in base. You should see at a minimum, assets0.pk3, assets1.pk3, etc already in this directory.

Probably easier for someone to send him the pk3 over xfire.

Ok u ppl seem to know what you are talking about. I downloaded the map from the place which said it was pk3. I told it to download directly o base. It appears in base as siege_narshadaa_v1.4.zip. I went and extracted all. This is what appeared... siege_narshadaa_v1.4. Now inside that is, ext_data, levelshots, models, shaders, textures, gfx, maps, script, sound, and siege_narshadaa_v1.4.txt. I did that thing where you go under file folder, then view and unchecked that box. However it still doesnt read p3k nor can i play the map....
