Massive agree with Bob on security falling on the user. It's kind of surreal to me that people are still getting viruses since I haven't had one myself since I was 13. It's pretty easy to browse smart these days.

Even if you do get a virus, it takes all of an hour to run a boot-time scan and slay everything.

Some super tesh nerd, like from CSI, could go in and recover that file. But in UNIX, when you delete a file, your shit is fucking GONE. No nerd can recover it, essentially. And what that means is that over time, your hard drive won't be nearly as congested; whereas with Windows computers, after a few years the system gets slower and slower.
I pretty much agreed with the other stuff, but you're kinda wrong here, too....

Linux and MACX yews a "UNIX-like" file system....not much difference, but...

I'm glad you think I'm a superCSI nerd....I've recovered files from both Windows and Linux OSes.

Linux files behave much the same way as windows files when deleted...the only difference is Linux is a true multi-user OS and deleted files go away MUCH more quickly than windows files....and windows fragments files more...that is...stores them on different areas of the HDD.

Yea, Bob was talking to me about that. It seems I was severely misinformed... I was working with a physics professor on some research which used Interactive Data Language (IDL), which she was saying could only compile on a "unix file system." By that, I could now assume she meant a unix-based one like linux or macintosh, if I'm understanding this right... And she was constantly emphasizing, for Macs, that once you delete something, it's gone for good. :/

But of course I'd trust your word over hers; she's a physics prof, she really only had time to learn the things she absolutely needed to with those OSes.

Let's get this straight. I'm not trying to say Windows sucks. In MY OPINION the Mac OS is better. Just my opinion.
I find Windows is less complicated to run this game, as I keep getting "This is a Windows application" messages when I try to open pk3s.
I yews the Mac OS and I know more people yews Windows though.
Personally I have never gotten a virus on MY COMPUTER, but who knows? All I know is that Windows don't work well for me, even though I find it easie to yews in MY OPINION. No disrespect for Windows users, but I think an apple computer is the better choice.

Then again, I am 13, so?!?!?!

And I do have lots of pictures that show Mac OSes are better, and I'll post them another time.
And still not trying to give out disrespect. There is enough of it already.

Ladies and gentleman, this is what we call the opinion-defense.

Suspect A touts opinions as fact.
See exhibit A.
Tom wrote:Ok, apple are harder to yews, but are virus-free and generally better performance-wise.
Windows is simple, and allows everything, is easy to hack, and is crawling with viruses.
The two balance each other out.
Suspect A then gets a beating from Mob A, and proceeds to recant statements from exhibit A claiming them as opinions.

It's illustrated, so don't worry if you can't read Engrish...
