Xfire buyout......again

Post by Wufei Chang »

System Broadcast:
Xfire was bought by new owners today. Most of the team that has built Xfire over the last six years is leaving. We enjoyed working for you for the last 127 releases and wish we could stay to create the next 127. Good bye, good luck, and game on. --- The Xfire Team

Saw that earlier today, Xfire website has been down since that message went up.

EDIT: I lied, forums are up.

I read that Xfire was sold to a company called "3D Realms", but Wikipedia just has it listed as being sold to an undisclosed company.

Is xfire really worth the money? Do they really take in that much income with a single small banner ad on the buddy list?

Considering like 80% of people who game for more than 2 hours a week have XFire, I'd say there's a high likelyhood.

Wrong, Viacom is the parent company of MTV.
MTV actually sold Xfire to a company called Titan Gaming.
